Teledildonics reflects on how mechanical objects can be manufactured to automate desire and the absurd devices this can engender. Small lush feathers attached to a rotating mechanical device of which the actual sexual impact is questionable, even humorously minimal. Who designed it, and for what purpose? In a larger framework, this speculative design, a visualisation of mechanised lust, reveals a deconstruction of the body into function and maintenance. In a societal context, the human body is increasingly presented as a machine that requires to be “boosted”, “charged”, or even sexually “serviced”.
